Palheiro Nature Estate (PNE) is pleased to announce a new and significant partnership with Greener Act, an organization dedicated to promoting sustainable practices and environmental preservation. This step reinforces our ongoing commitment to sustainability and the protection of the ecosystems that make our space unique.
As part of this partnership, the PNE team participated in a cleanup action on August 23rd, focused on removing cigarette butts from various areas of the property. This initiative is a practical example of our commitment to preserving the natural beauty that is a fundamental pillar of Palheiro Nature Estate.
All the collected debris is being deposited in "The Whale," an installation by artist Mr. António Vieira, which has been on display near Palheiro Golf for about a month. This piece, made from waste collected by Greener Act and Madeira Friends, symbolizes the impact of litter on the environment and reinforces the importance of our conservation mission.
In line with Palheiro Golf's commitment to protecting the environment, recycled ashtrays have also been introduced and will be available at the reception to reduce the disposal of cigarette butts on the course.
The collaboration with Greener Act will intensify our efforts to implement sustainable practices while promoting environmental awareness among our visitors, staff, and the wider community.
