Palheiro Nature Estate, a renowned luxury resort nestled in the heart of Madeira, has been honoured with a prestigious accolade. The esteemed Golf World magazine has recognized Palheiro Nature Estate as one of the 100 best golf resorts in Europe, solidifying its position as a premier golfing destination.
The recognition from Golf World magazine is a testament to Palheiro Nature Estate’s exceptional golf course, luxurious accommodations, and world-class amenities. The resort’s 18-hole championship golf course, designed by renowned architect Cabell Robinson, offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean on all 18 holes and a challenge for golfers of all levels.
Alfredo Cunha explained how the recent continual improvements to the course have helped Palheiro golf achieve this accolade. ‘All of the bunkers have now been completely remodelled and we are in the final stages of trials with robotics to cut the fairways and roughs which has meant we could concentrate on other areas of the course to open up new views to the Atlantic and to improve the general playability.’
Philippe Moreau President of Palheiro Nature Estate explained ‘I am convinced that in addition to the changes at the golf course, the vastly improved facilities at the resort’s Relais and Chateaux hotel – Casa Velha do Palheiro have played a big part in receiving this award. Our restaurant OXALIS has a new show kitchen under the leadership of Chef Gonçalo Bota which offers an immersive experience to sample his creations which are increasingly produced on site in the new horta. This combined with the new facilities such as the Yoga pavilion and the upgrades to all of the rooms as well as the new pool area has lead to a significant improvement to our guests experience’
