This year, Casa Velha do Palheiro is supporting an ambitious reforestation project at PNE (Palheiro Nature Estate), developed in collaboration with Greener Act.
This initiative will result in the creation of a unique MAZE, composed of over 800 trees, funded through tree purchased directly on the Greener Act App. Once fully grown, this green labyrinth will have the capacity to offset approximately 20 tons of carbon emissions per year.
To put this into perspective, a round-trip flight between Funchal and Lisbon generates around 483 kg of carbon emissions. This means that the maze project alone can offset the equivalent of 40 trips annually.
Beyond its environmental impact, the MAZE will become an immersive experience for guests of Palheiro Nature Estate, including golf members and visitors of Casa Velha do Palheiro, Relais & Châteaux. Families, children, and nature lovers of all ages will be invited to explore this green sanctuary, fostering a deeper connection with sustainability and the natural world.
